…floor?
I would like to know of a floor cleaner for linoleum and ceramic tile that is not sticky after the floor has dried. I realize that I could wash the floors twice–first with the cleaner and then once with water to help get rid of the sticky surface. I would just like to do the floors only once. This has bugged me for years.
The best floor cleaner I have found is: water, a disinfectant dish soap like "JOY", if the floor is really dirty a little bleach. (it will also clean hundreds of other things around the house).
A gallon of water, 1/2 tsp. Joy-a quick little squirt or less, 1/4 bleach (if needed).
If this doesn’t work try dehumidifying the air in your home. Run a dehumidifier during warm humid weather. Air conditioning alone won’t do it.
Ammonia works really well, never leaves stickiness, and remember you don’t need much, Follow the directions on the bottle. Also keep the water clean. Change it when you need to. You can also use microfibre flat floor mops with water only. They clean remarkably well.
The reason is, is that floor cleaner causes a build up, and especially over time. I don’t use any linoleum cleaner, I just use the gold pine sol. No build up.
From what I have been told, pure ammonia will do the trick. It is supposed to leave the floors a lot more shiny and is supposed to help keep the floors from being sticky once it dries. I have never tried it, but was told that a while back at a flooring superstore. Hope ot helps!
Unfortunately most cleaners that say you don’t need to rinse really do leave allot of residue behind.
Here are a couple of other options…
linoleum – hot water with 1 cup of vinegar added to it. Never leaves the floor sticky!
ceramic tile isn’t at all porous, so you can just use very hot water – you can do the vinegar and hot water method too, but not every time – vinegar isn’t good for the grout
I tried ammonia and it’s very effective. Leaves the floor shiny and doesn’t have that stickiness after cleaning.
